Artist, Betelhem Makonnen, will lead Convening participants in an interactive workshop through the grounds of Laguna Gloria’s sculpture park. Using simple auxiliary lenses made up of mirrors and other reflective surfaces and a cellphone camera; students will wander and explore the natural site creating still and moving images of them(selves) interacting with the landscape.
All images will be uploaded throughout the exercise to a group Instagram and the gallery of images will be collectively viewed at end of the workshop. Participants are encouraged to reflect on the following relationships as they practice their selfing exercises:
